Keep your documents safe – use Dropbox!
If you want to try to recover the data, you can. There are companies out there that (for a fee) will attempt to restore the hard drive and get your files back. This can be successful or fail, but either way it’s going to cost you.
My personal favorite option is to use Dropbox. You can save all your OBU documents in one folder and they will all be automatically backed up to the cloud. If your PC fails, no problem! All your work is saved and you can pickup where you left off.
An added benefit of Dropbox is that it records the last 30 days of file changes too. For any file you save, you can go back in time and get an earlier version. This can be really useful for spreadsheets, esp big complex ones that sometimes fail or become corrupted.
Dropbox also allows you to share files and folders with others. If you don’t fancy emailing big files to others, you can just share a link with them instead. Easy.
I wrote this short article to get you thinking about where you store your work and to ensure that you don’t lose it. You have worked hard, so minimise your risk of losing it.
